Claude Code For Beginners

A paid Claude subscription, though not on day one. Claude Code runs on it, so you'll need it once you start building alongside the lessons rather than watching them.

It isn't included in the course price, so budget for it separately. Start on the cheapest plan that works for you; the course covers how to work well on a smaller plan, and when heavier use makes an upgrade worth it.

Everything else you need is free. You'll want a version control account with one repository, and we use GitHub because it's the most widely known.

It's beginner level at directing AI, not at software. You'll move quickly through the fundamentals and spend your time on the orchestration system, which is the one we use to build ByteDragon rather than a teaching version of it. Nothing in the method is specific to one assistant, so what you take from it travels with you.

You'll understand how Claude Code actually works: how it thinks through problems, uses its tools, and remembers your project.

You'll know how to customize it for your workflow: your own shortcuts, your own rules, your own preferences. You'll extend it with tools that give your AI partner new capabilities (browsing documentation, connecting to databases, and more). And by the end, you'll build your own team of AI specialists that work together on a project while you direct the strategy. The techniques transfer to any AI coding tool, not just Claude Code. The goal: you stop thinking about how to use the tool and start thinking about what to build with it.
